ILLIT Surpasses 550,000 Pre-orders Despite Controversy Ahead of Comeback on Oct 21st

On Oct 18th, album distributors Genie Music and Stone Music Entertainment revealed that ILLIT’s (Yunah, Minju, Moka, Wonhee, Iroha) second mini album “I’LL LIKE YOU” surpassed 550,000 pre-orders the previous day. This figure is 2.6 times higher than the final pre-order count of 211,851 copies for their debut album “SUPER REAL ME”. With three days remaining until the release date, expectations for further growth are high.

ILLIT achieved impressive results immediately after their debut in March. “SUPER REAL ME” sold over 380,000 copies in its first week and entered the U.S. Billboard 200 chart. Moreover, the album’s title track “Magnetic” became the first K-pop debut song to enter both the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and the U.K. Official Singles Top 100 (week of April 5th).

Thanks to their global popularity, the cumulative sales of “SUPER REAL ME” have steadily increased, reaching 558,227 copies according to Circle Chart (March 25th~Sep 30th). With the new album’s pre-orders easily surpassing 500,000, ILLIT is on track to secure their second half-million-selling album in their debut year. It also seems likely that their total album sales for the year will reach 1 million.

ILLIT’s second mini album “I’LL LIKE YOU”, set to be released on Oct 21st at 6 p.m., tells the story of a girl who becomes deeply absorbed in the moment as she meets someone she wants to get close to, navigating relationships with those around her but ultimately trusting her own feelings and moving straight towards “you”. The title track “Cherish (My Love)” is a dance-pop song with a catchy hook, an addictive beat, and the members’ pure and clear vocals.
