Im Ji Yeon defies her fate as a slave to survive in The Tale of Lady Ok.
The second teaser for JTBC’s upcoming weekend drama The Tale of Lady Ok has been released. It shows slave-born Gu Deok’s fight for survival, who takes on the identity of Ok Tae Young.
The Tale of Lady Ok tells the story of Ok Tae Young (Im Ji Yeon), a woman whose name, status, and husband are all fake, and Cheon Seung Hwi (Choo Young Woo), a storyteller who risked his life to protect her.
The teaser opens with Gu Deok introducing herself as a runaway slave from Hanyang. Beaten and bloodied at the hands of her master, she drifts between life and death until she encounters the warm hand of a lady who sees her without prejudice.
However, after an attack, an unimaginable new life unfolds for Gu Deok. Scenes showing her as the perfect lady, Ok Tae Young, living a life worlds apart from her slave past, spark intrigue and curiosity.
With the words, “I will protect those I must protect,” Ok Tae Yeong begins to take matters into her own hands, fighting for herself and what she holds dear. When someone asks her name, her solemn response, “My name is Ok Tae Young,” reveals her steely resolve to hold onto the life she now lives.
Just as she thinks her world has ended, a new opportunity arises, making us wonder how Gu Deok will carve out her fate. As she defies her status as a slave and chooses a life of deception for survival, anticipation rises for what consequences may follow.
