An unnamed man in his 20s was arrested by police for a**aulting Johnny Somali (24), an American YouTuber, who allegedly desecrated the Comfort Woman statue by kissing it.
On the 31st, the Songpa Police Station in Seoul reported that they arrested the man, referred to as A, for a**aulting Somali on a road in Bangi-dong, Songpa-gu, Seoul.
According to police, A is suspected of a**aulting Somali while he was conducting a YouTube live broadcast around 9:30 AM that day. After being reported, A was arrested by responding officers and was heard shouting, “Goodnight, Somali!” toward him. A is currently in custody.
Johnny Somali is receiving treatment at a hospital in Songpa-gu. A police official stated, “He sustained minor injuries and was able to walk to the hospital.”
Somali, a Somali-American YouTuber with 20,000 subscribers, has engaged in provocative behavior during his live broadcasts, including kissing the Comfort Woman statue, SH~ing passersby, and causing a disturbance by pouring ramen at a convenience store. He also posted on his YouTube channel, “Shinzo Abe! I Defeated The Koreans For You.”
Previously, on the 24th, Somali was hit in the face by a man while live streaming on the streets of Hongdae, Mapo-gu, Seoul.
Meanwhile, Johnny Somali is currently facing two charges of a**ault and drug use. A police official stated, “We plan to investigate the related allegations.”
