IU’s Agency Moves Office Without Her Knowledge?

On October 22nd, various online community boards were flooded with critical posts titled “Agency moves without informing their artist IU,” “EDAM Entertainment didn’t notify IU about the move,” and “Another incident with IU’s agency.”

The incident in question unfolded as follows. On October 20th, IU appeared on her official fan cafe and engaged in comment exchanges with fans. During this interaction, fans expressed confusion about fan letters being returned when sent to EDAM Entertainment’s recent address, asking IU, “We heard rumors that EDAM moved offices. Is it true? Has the address for sending fan letters changed?”

IU responded, “Huh? We haven’t moved! Did they do it without telling me? As far as I know, we haven’t moved!”

However, the next day, on October 21st, EDAM Entertainment belatedly posted a notice on the fan cafe stating, “Due to the company’s relocation, the address has changed, and we are providing updated instructions for support applications. Please note that mail cannot be received at the previous address, so please be mindful to avoid any confusion.”

When piecing this information together, it appears that the agency moved without IU’s knowledge, which has sparked outrage among fans. Notably, IU is the third-largest shareholder with a 22.5% stake, and while EDAM Entertainment also represents artist WOODZ (Jo Seung-yeon), the majority of their revenue comes from IU.

Consequently, fans are expressing their accumulated frustrations, saying, “How can they manage things so poorly when they only have two artists, IU and WOODZ?”

Previously in April, EDAM Entertainment had drawn criticism for demanding excessive verification documents from a fan suspected of unauthorized ticket transactions for IU’s concert. This incident was eventually resolved with an apology from EDAM Entertainment.

Meanwhile, attempts to contact EDAM Entertainment representatives regarding the relocation controversy have been unsuccessful, with all calls going unanswered.
