On November 25, izna (Mai, Bang Jeemin, Yoon Jiyoon, Koko, Ryu Sarang, Choi Jungeun, Jeong Saebi) marked the launch of their debut mini-album “N/a” with a showcase in Seoul.
izna, formed from the winners of Mnet’s I-LAND 2, consists of 7 members chosen by global viewers across 217 countries. Their name embodies confidence, signifying “being oneself anywhere, anytime, and with anything.”
Choi Jungeun, the top winner of I-LAND 2, expressed excitement and nervousness about debuting, while Bang Jeemin, who placed second, thanked fans for their support and promised an amazing performance. Mai reflected on the four months since the show ended, noting that the members had all grown and prepared diligently for this moment.
The debut album “N/a” represents young girls breaking through fear and challenging the world, reflecting the passion and limitless potential they carried from I-LAND 2. The title track “IZNA” is a hip-hop song with a catchy chorus and minimal beats, crafted by The Black Label producers, including Teddy, who contributed to the writing, composing, and arrangement.
The members expressed high satisfaction with “IZNA,” with Bang Jeemin calling it a perfect fit for the group. Teddy also contributed to another track, “Timebomb.” Yoon Jiyoon shared how grateful the members were for Teddy’s support during their preparation, highlighting his advice on creating good work through mutual understanding.
Teddy, renowned for his work with 2NE1 and BLACKPINK, guided izna toward a dazzling debut. As for their future direction, Bang Jeemin emphasized their intention to showcase unique new sides to their fans. Choi Jungeun, inspired by BLACKPINK, aims to deliver amazing performances and highlight izna’s unique color.
izna, now entering the fierce girl group competition, expressed gratitude for their senior idols and highlighted the synergy among their members. They aspire to be known as “stage geniuses” and to win a rookie award at the MAMA Awards. They also hope to tour internationally, aiming for a Billboard No. 1 spot.
In addition to “IZNA” and “Timebomb,” the album features 5 tracks, including reworked mission songs from I-LAND 2 and new tracks like “IWALY,” “Drip,” and “Fake It.”
izna’s “N/a” was released at 6 PM (KST) on November 25.
