Ji Ye-eun Opens Up About Failing SM and JYP Auditions in “Running Man”

On the October 20 episode of SBS’s variety show “Running Man” (Episode 724), Ji Ye-eun talked about her past experiences of preparing to join a girl group. The show also featured “Mr. Plankton” actors Woo Do-hwan and Lee Yoo-mi as guests.

During a mission game where the cast competed for lunch and extra coins, Yoo Jae-suk playfully suggested Ji Ye-eun dance, “Since we made a mistake, let’s have Ye-eun show us some moves.” Though initially caught off guard, Ji Ye-eun agreed and performed Wonder Girls’ “Be My Baby,” a dance she had learned during her training days.

Ji Seok-jin then asked her if she learned the dance while dreaming of becoming a girl group member, and when she confirmed, he teasingly revealed, “Then why did you fail the SM auditions?” Ji Ye-eun, embarrassed, replied, “Why are you talking about that on air?”

Kim Jong-kook joined in, asking if she also auditioned for JYP, to which Ji Seok-jin humorously added, “She failed all except YG’s audition, which she didn’t even try for.” This playful banter had the cast and audience laughing.

Later in the episode, when it was Haha’s turn, the profile photo of “Running Man” family member Shin Ye-eun appeared on the screen, but Haha failed to recognize her at first. Kim Jong-kook also jokingly complained about how actors’ profile pictures make them look so different, saying, “They’re already pretty, but in these photos, they’re even prettier! We can’t tell who they are!” This led to more laughter when Kim Jong-kook teased Song Ji-hyo, saying even she wouldn’t be recognizable in her profile photos, causing a hilarious moment on set.
