According to SPOTV News on Oct 29th, Jun Ji-hyun has been offered the lead role in director Yeon Sang-ho’s new work “Grove” and is currently in discussions. While filming “Tempest”, where she co-stars with Kang Dong-won, Jun Ji-hyun is expected to continue her busy schedule with “Grove”.
“Grove” refers to a collective of the same species working together, dividing tasks and living in a social structure. The film is anticipated to expand director Yeon Sang-ho’s zombie worldview, bringing a fresh take on the genre.
Director Yeon Sang-ho is known for pioneering global success in the K-zombie genre with works such as “Train to Busan”, “Peninsula” and the animation “Seoul Station”, establishing a strong zombie worldview. “Grove” is expected to deliver another captivating and innovative storyline in continuation of his previous zombie series.
Jun Ji-hyun, renowned for her versatility across romance, comedy, action and other genres, will be working with director Yeon Sang-ho for the first time through this project. Notably, her brief but impactful role in the 2021 zombie thriller “Kingdom: Ashin of the North” won over global viewers. Fans are eagerly awaiting what Jun Ji-hyun will bring to the table in director Yeon Sang-ho’s signature worldview, as worldwide anticipation builds.
Meanwhile, “Grove” is preparing for a theatrical release, with casting currently underway and filming set to begin in the first half of next year.
