Late at night on August 12, a topic titled “SEVENTEEN’s Seungkwan is currently being attacked by BTS’ overseas fans” was published on the Korena forum “theqoo”. The topic has since drawn over 95,000 views and 1,268, becoming a highly-discussed matter in Korea.
Particular, SEVENTEEN’s Seungkwan previously published a post to celebrate the end of the Olympics and promote the alcoholic brand CASS, which he is a model for. Per the advertising law of South Korea, the male idol left a comment warning about the negative effects of drinking alcohol underneath the post.
However, fans of BTS started to accuse Seungkwan of “attacking” Suga, who recently had a drunk-driving scandal, and also leave negative comments under Seungkwan’s post.
Additionally, malicious comments also appear on Seungkwan’s pinned post on Instagram, which is about his late best friend Moonbin. These comments not only wish for Seungkwan to “join” Moonbin, but also slander the name of the deceased.
It seems that Seungkwan notices these comments, and thus has decided to unpin the post to spare his late friend’s memories from being attacked.
Upon seeing Seungkwan to unpin his post with Moonbin, K-netizens are downright furious, heavily condemning BTS fans. Below are some of their comments:
- Messing with a deceased person is seriously inhumane
- Seriously what’s wrong with these people
- Do BTS fans collectively have mental illness?
- How dare those cr*zy b*tches mess with Moonbin?
- I hope they get back what they did tenfold
- That fandom seems to have a real problem and those cr*zy people is not a minority
