Kang Dong Won has returned with the movie “Dr. Cheon and The Lost Talisman”
On September 19th, a press conference for the movie “Dr. Cheon and The Lost Talisman” was held at CGV Yongsan IPark Mall in Seoul’s Yongsan-gu.
“Dr. Cheon and The Lost Talisman” tells the story of a fake exorcist, Dr. Cheon (Kang Dong Won), who doesn’t believe in ghosts but possesses ghost-like insight. He takes on a powerful case he has never encountered before. The film, produced by the studio that previously succeeded with hits like “Veteran,” “Exit,” and the recent “Smugglers,” is based on the Naver webtoon “Possession.”
Director Kim Sung Sik stated, “When adapting the original webtoon into a movie, I focused on building the character Dr. Cheon. I also wanted to depict possession well. I became curious about the concept of spirits moving between bodies and wanted to express it visually.”
Regarding his collaboration with Kang Dong Won, he joked, “I couldn’t capture many shots of him. I think my capacity is too small to capture such a great subject. He seems to be an actor who can show more.”
Heo Joon Ho also remarked, “While watching the movie today, I thought, ‘Why does Dong Won’s skin look so good?’ I had high expectations because it’s a movie starring Kang Dong Won. There was no reason not to expect it.”
Hearing this, Kang Dong Won responded, “When I watched the film on the screen today, I felt my age and experience. I liked that. I feel like I’ve reached an age where I can take on a wider variety of roles.”
After the press conference and Q&A session ended, a photo session took place. When a reporter requested a heart, Kang Dong Won responded with a cheerful smile, drawing a big heart with both hands, in stark contrast to celebrities who recently sparked controversy by refusing reporters’ requests to do hearts for photos.
“Dr. Cheon and The Lost Talisman” will be released on September 27th.
