On November 1, singers Jukjae, Nov, John Park, aespa appeared on KBS2TV’s “The Seasons – Lee Young Ji’s Rainbow” and shared various stories.
Host Lee Young Ji introduced the final guest by saying “This is their first time here. They’re the first girl group to join us on ‘Rainbow’. Thanks to them, ‘metal taste’ is trending everywhere. If you’re low on iron, tune in right now”, building up excitement.
aespa then took the stage to perform “Supernova”, captivating the audience. Watching the crowd, Lee Young Ji joked, “You’re all way too excited. I’m getting jealous.”
She asked, “aespa is the first girl group to grace ‘Rainbow’, and I heard this is your first appearance on ‘The Seasons’. How does it feel?”
Karina replied, “I’ve watched every episode of ‘The Seasons’, from Jay Park and Jannabi’s Choi Jung Hoon to Young Ji. I guess we were waiting for you, Young Ji.”
In response, Lee Young Ji said, “I’m not sure if I deserve such an amazing opportunity. I have a bit of history with these four beautiful princesses, especially Karina. We filmed ‘My Alcohol Diary’ together, and that video became the top trending YouTube video of last year.” Karina expressed her gratitude, “It’s all thanks to you, Young Ji.”
When Lee Young Ji asked the audience if anyone hadn’t heard “Supernova”, they all enthusiastically sang along.
Karina admitted, “I didn’t expect ‘Supernova’ to be loved this much. I actually preferred ‘Armageddon’. Our favorite songs always seem to be the less popular ones.”
Lee Young Ji said, “‘Supernova’ has broken so many records. It’s the longest-charting number one song in 20 years—a song that’s set a new record for staying at the top since someone was born and became an adult.”
She humorously added, “I released a song called ‘Small Girl’ in June 2024. ‘Supernova’ came out in May, and my song kept climbing, but ‘Supernova’ just wouldn’t budge from the top.”
Lee Young Ji also mentioned SM Entertainment’s tradition of giving aespa members unique “powers”, noting that Giselle could supposedly control light. As Giselle made a hand motion, the lights dimmed, and John Park took the opportunity to rush into the stage, performing aespa’s “Whiplash”.
After John Park’s performance, Lee Young Ji asked Karina what she thought of his rendition of “Whiplash”. Karina responded, “You’re the sexiest oppa I’ve ever seen.”
Lee Young Ji immediately commented, “That’s a flirty line!” John Park, pleased, nodded in satisfaction. The other aespa members joined in, adding, “You were amazing.”
Lee Young Ji then mentioned aespa’s upcoming 4th debut anniversary, prompting Winter to reflect, “Since we debuted during the pandemic, the first 1~2 years flew by so quickly, it doesn’t feel real. Back then, we didn’t have any audience at all.” Lee Young Ji acknowledged aespa’s current success, noting how their world tour was taking over social media feeds everywhere.
