At the 45th Blue Dragon Film Awards, 12.12: The Day dominated by winning four awards, including Best Film, Best Actor for Hwang Jung Min, and the Audience Choice Award. Directed by Kim Sung Soo, the film depicts the tense nine-hour attempt to thwart a military coup in Seoul in December 1979.
Despite the film’s success, Jung Woo Sung, a key figure in the movie, faced personal controversy regarding an extramarital child. Attending the event amid public scrutiny, Jung apologized on stage, expressing regret for causing disappointment and pledging to fulfill his responsibilities as a father.
The ceremony honored several talents, including Kim Go Eun (Best Actress for Exhuma) and rising stars Noh Sang Hyun and Park Joo Hyun. Popularity Awards were given to Ku Kyo Hwan, Tang Wei, Lim Ji Yeon, and Jung Hae In.
