Korean actor Kim Young-kwang, who was a 22-year-old newcomer when he became the first Asian model for Dior in 2010, recently reflected on that moment with regard to his contribution to the fashion world.
In a recent appearance on KBS 2TV’s “Problem Kids in the Rooftop Room,” Kim shared his story of becoming a top model for one of the biggest luxury brands in the world after wanting to be an actor.
There were not many Asian models back then, and he just went for it.
Kim, 189 cm tall, explained, “There are so many Asian models now, but back then there weren’t that many.

I said, Hello. So I went to the audition, and that day, you know, I was on a Dior fashion show stage livro.”
That successful stint then gave Kim his initial breakthrough with donning the actor hat.
After an interview for the modeling job, he said a producer contacted him and suggested an audition for a part in a drama.
As a result, he had his first big acting break in “The World They Live In,” sharing the big screen with stars like Hyun Bin and Song Hye-kyo.
The actor was also spotted at a dinner for a breast cancer awareness campaign alongside fellow actors Park Bo-young and Park Hyung-sik recently.The three struck playful poses in front of the camera.
This is basically Kim’s story, showcasing how motivation and taking the first step can help anybody enter competitive industries such as modeling or acting.
