Koala Withdraws from ‘RAP: PUBLIC’ Amid Allegations of Assaulting Jessi’s Fan

The production team of the TVING original series RAP: PUBLIC (hereafter referred to as RAP: PUBLIC) announced on the 25th, “In the episodes released so far since Episode 4, we have edited out Koala’s screen time,” adding, “We plan to edit future episodes as well.” Since filming has already been completed, it is difficult for him to leave the show, but the intention is to minimize his presence through editing.

RAP: PUBLIC is a real hip-hop survival show that features a strategic survival competition using rap as its weapon. Jay Park serves as the MC, and well-known domestic rappers are participating, drawing attention. Koala has appeared as a member of Block 6 in RAP: PUBLIC.

On October 24th, a YouTuber posted in their channel’s community, claiming, “I’m revealing the murder conviction of the killer Huh Jae-won (Koala).

The YouTuber wrote, “Once again, our 1988-born ‘hip-hop warrior’ Huh Jae-won is thinking ‘Since Jessi issued an apology, things will quiet down soon, right?’ while staying silent with his Instagram closed. So today, I will reveal Huh Jae-won’s murder conviction.”

According to the YouTuber, a person presumed to be producer Koala, Huh Jae-won (Jeff Huh, 17 years old at the time), assaulted a 17-year-old Korean male student with a blunt weapon on December 30th, 2005 in Hawaiian Gardens. The victim was in critical condition and eventually died on January 2nd, 2006.

The YouTuber claimed that Huh Jae-won was deported to Korea, where he formed a music label with acquaintances from the overseas Korean community and has since been active as a rapper and producer under the name “Koala”, running his own business.

Furthermore, the YouTuber alleged that at dawn on September 29th, 2024 in Apgujeong, Huh Jae-won, along with a member of the Wah Ching triad gang, assaulted a minor Korean citizen. They emphasized the extreme danger of the situation, suggesting that the minor could have been murdered, urging everyone to be aware of the severity.

The YouTuber also tagged Dingo’s account, earnestly requesting, “Please remove the video of the murderer Huh Jae-won from the ‘df’ channel.”

While the YouTuber’s claims have not been confirmed, following these allegations, a live video featuring Koala that had been uploaded to the YouTube channel “df” in September last year was made private. The video showed Koala performing the song “RSVP”, which featured Jessi.
