Lee Jong-suk Returns with His Next Project After 3 Years “Appearing in tvN’s ‘Seocho-dong’”

The agency Ace Factory announced on Nov 5th, “Lee Jong-suk has confirmed his appearance in tvN’s new drama ‘Seocho-dong’ (written by Lee Seung-hyun and directed by Park Seung-woo).” This marks Lee Jong-suk’s return to viewers since his last drama, MBC’s “Big Mouth”, which aired in 2022.

“Seocho-dong” is about office workers who goes to work in Seocho-dong Law Town every day. The story, written by a practicing lawyer, will depict the growth of lawyers handling events that can occur in our daily lives and surroundings.

In the drama, Lee Jong-suk plays the role of Ahn Joo-hyung, a 9-year lawyer. Ahn Joo-hyung is a character who became a lawyer simply because he found logic and cases interesting; he is a 9-year employee who does not initially embody the idea that lawyers protect the weak, uphold justice or change the world.

Having been with the same company for nine years without a single job change, Ahn Joo-hyung handles work perfectly, commensurate with his seniority. However, he is also an associate who is too lazy to open his own practice. For him, the calm workplace he has known begins to show signs of cracks.

Lee Jong-suk previously portrayed a lawyer in “Big Mouth”. Through “Big Mouth”, he showcased the life of a spectacular lawyer, creating a “Big Mouth” syndrome and proving his worth as a reliable lead actor by winning the Grand Prize at the MBC Drama Awards that year. While Park Chang-ho from “Big Mouth” lived a tumultuous lawyer’s life that transcended reality, Ahn Joo-hyung in “Seocho-dong” endures the vivid everyday life of an office worker lawyer as a down-to-earth character. Lee Jong-suk’s transformation into a character grounded in reality also heightens expectations for the project.

“Seocho-dong” will be directed by Park Seung-woo, who previously directed dramas like “Kairos” and “Adamas”. He and Lee Jong-suk collaborated once before on “W”, where he provided a role that earned Lee Jong-suk the grand prize. Attention is focused on whether this reunion will create another synergy.

“Seocho-dong” is set to be produced with the aim of airing on tvN in the first half of 2025.

Meanwhile, Lee Jong-suk acknowledged his romantic relationship with singer IU at the end of 2022, marking the start of their public relationship. They are said to have developed from longtime friends, having hosted SBS’s “Inkigayo” together ten years ago, into lovers.
