On December 30th, the YouTube channel of Netflix Korea uploaded a new video showing Lee Jung-jae reacting to the Russian roulette scene with Gong Yoo.
In the video, Lee Jung-jae watched the Russian roulette scene of him and Gong Yoo in the first episode of “Squid Game 2”. He shared, “I thought this scene had a really cinematic feel to it. Many things need to be considered when shooting a scene like this one”, adding “It was especially delicate with this scene because it comes out in the first episode. While we didn’t want the tone to feel too dramatic right from the first episode, it needed to create both intrigue and suspense at the same time”.
In particular, Lee Jung-jae mentioned Gong Yoo’s acting in the scene, saying “If you’re a fan of Gong Yoo’s, I’m sure you’ll enjoy seeing a new side of him in this scene.”
He added, “Season 1 also has many lines regarding following the rules and playing fair. Even in a game just between the two of them, they both strictly abide by the rules. Breaking the rules means you lose. Ki-hoon considers himself stronger than everyone else. This carries a strong message that he feels that he can beat everyone”.
Moreover, Lee Jung-jae said, “What an ending. Who wouldn’t want to watch Episode 2?”. He once again praised Gong Yoo’s acting, saying “I kept telling Gong Yoo that he did an amazing job. And I really meant it. He’s not just charismatic but also mischievous in this scene. He even looks frightening and embodies all that in his acting. This scene couldn’t have served better as a perfect climax.”
