On the December 25th broadcast of tvN’s “You Quiz on the Block,” actor Lee Min-ho appeared as a guest and shared the reason for his first variety show appearance in 16 years.
Upon his arrival, Lee Min-ho quipped, “Do you mind if I take off my jacket?” and hung it on a fishing chair, drawing laughter from those around him. He remarked, “This chair is really small,” prompting Yoo Jae Suk to joke, “I think you intended to hang your jacket there,” causing even more laughter.
Yoo Jae-suk commented, “This is the first time I’ve seen you on a variety show.” Lee Min-ho replied that it was indeed his first variety show appearance in 16 years, adding, “Apart from appearing as a rookie on Star Golden Bell, this is the first time,” which brought more laughs. He then joked, “People these days probably don’t even know Star Golden Bell.”
Lee Min-ho shared that he had trouble sleeping the night before, “I was worried I might cause any trouble. Honestly, I wasn’t sure how I’d do,” evoking chuckles from the hosts.
As for why he avoided variety shows in the past, he explained, “Back then, variety shows like 1 Night 2 Days and Infinite Challenge had very intense and character-driven formats. They seemed too competitive.”
He elaborated, “I thought that just because I was somewhat known, if I joined those shows, I wouldn’t be able to match their intensity.” He added, “Later, there were more healing-themed variety shows, but my own life was already so focused on healing that I wondered if I could actually help others heal. You Quiz felt very relaxed, like sharing a cup of tea,” explaining his reason for appearing on the show.
Looking at Jo Se-ho, Lee Min-ho recalled, “I happened to meet you at a private gathering before you got married.” Jo Se-ho added, “You came with Hyo-jin,” reminiscing about the encounter. Lee Min-ho mentioned, “You gifted me some premium liquor.” Yoo Jae-suk humorously asked, “Why do Hallyu stars always end up paying for others’ meals?” eliciting laughter from everyone.
