Lee Seung Yeon has openly discussed all her past controversies in a video uploaded to social media and how they affected her.
On October 23, broadcaster Jang Young-ran shared a video of her housewarming from the day before with the title — “Jang Young-ran Teacher Actress Lee Seung-yeon Yeonhui-dong Housewarming (Entertainment Behind Story).
Lee recalled a pivotal moment in 2004, when a nude pictorial was published likening to that of the comfort women, prompting an outcry.
I was being loved for a drama I worked really hard for, and then this big accident happened. That was a lot of noise, and I had a mouth but words to say nothing.
Over time, I realized that by showing the better side of myself, there is no way out.
The controversy, Lee said, was heavy and made her consider taking her own life.
She said “I was about to be forgotten and left alone so far that the loss of existence made me die.”

She talked about visiting a temple where she cried for three days only to come away realizing, “I have [some] days left.”
With a nudge from a friend, she began a clothing store in Dongdaemun, and it took off.
The actress likewise discussed her motion with the show “100 Women” following a few reports over supposed basic propofol use.
I didn’t quit because I wanted to take a break rather than due to some shocking episode,” she added. Lee, who recently contacted the producer of the program about this, said, “I wish I had apologized before but never did.
With tears in her eyes, she said that if she could go back to ‘100 Women’, she would because this program was the key for her career.
