Lee Sung-kyung Dreamed of Being Musical Actor for 16 Years, But Thought She was Too Tall

On September 16th, Lee Sung-kyung appeared as a guest alongside MeloMance in a video on Seong Si-kyung’s YouTube channel, I’ll Listen.

Lee Sung-kyung, who will make her musical debut with “Aladdin” this November, revealed, “I’ve dreamed of being a musical actor for 16 years. When I was a model before my acting career, I thought I couldn’t pursue it because of my height.”

With her impressive singing and piano skills, Lee Sung-kyung added, “I used to want to pursue classical music when I was younger. Sometimes, when actor friends visit, I accompany them on the piano. Since actors rarely sing, they’re always thrilled when I play along. It feels like a life experience.”

She explained, “Whether one sings well or not, experiencing how the accompaniment follows their breath is something new. So, when my actor friends come over, I play the accompaniment for them.”

Describing herself as a musical “nerd,” Lee Sung-kyung said, “Usually, when asked about a favorite musical, people mention their top show. Mine is Bonnie and Clyde—I’m completely smitten with one particular song.” She showcased her melodious voice by performing ‘How ’bout a Dance?’ with MeloMance.

After finishing her song to applause, Lee remarked, “I was so nervous at the end.”

Seong Si-kyung, who sang “Come What May” with Lee, joked, “It felt like we were at karaoke, singing whatever we wanted. Great job!” and smiled.
