On the evening of December 21, the 2024 SBS Drama Awards were held at SBS Prism Tower in Sangam, hosted by Shin Dong-yup, Kim Hye-yoon, and Kim Ji-yeon. During the ceremony, actresses Kim Hyeong-seo and Lee Yu-bi were awarded the Best Acting Award in the seasonal drama category.
Lee Yu-bi expressed her gratitude, saying, “Last year, I won an excellence award for ‘The Escape of the Seven: War for Survival,’ and I’m so happy to win again this year for ‘The Escape of the Seven: Resurrection.’ I usually act strong every day, but I was able to fully immerse myself in a character who is the complete opposite of me.”
She thanked the staff and became emotional as she spoke, “As an actor, I always want to connect with people. I’m not sure if I deserve this, but I will continue to work hard to be a better person and an actor who can truly resonate with others.” Her heartfelt words earned a standing ovation from the audience.
Lee Yu-bi made her debut in 2011 with the MBN drama “Vampire Idol.” To avoid being compared to her mother, actress Kyeon Mi-ri, she initially kept her identity as Kyeon Mi-ri’s daughter a secret during the audition. However, it was later revealed.
Lee Yu-bi graduated from Sunhwa Arts Middle and High School and studied vocal music at Ewha Womans University.
In 2013, she appeared in the drama “Gu Family Book” and has since starred in shows like “Uncontrollably Fond” and “Somehow 18,” continuing her acting career.
She also gained recognition for her role as Ruby in “Yumi’s Cells,” showcasing her playful and energetic acting. Lee Yu-bi received praise for her strong performance in “The Escape of the Seven.”
Now, over 10 years into her career, Lee Yu-bi shared that her mindset has changed from “It’s okay because I did my best, let’s do better next time” to a determination to keep pushing until she achieves her goals.
