Love Next Door Episode 13 Recap
In Episode 13 of Love Next Door, Seok-ryu and Seung-hyo wake up together at Seok-ryu’s house, only to realize her parents have unexpectedly returned from their trip. Panicked, they quickly pretend to be reading rom-com comics together to avoid suspicion. Seung-hyo, eager to be open about their relationship, overhears her parents discussing potential marriage prospects for both of them and wants to reveal the truth. However, Seok-ryu convinces him to keep their relationship a secret for a little longer. The couple continues to spend private moments together, relishing each other’s company while attempting to stay hidden from anyone they know.
Meanwhile, tensions persist between Dan-ho and Mo-eum. Mo-eum’s mother offers to help take care of Yeon-du, but Dan-ho politely refuses, signaling an emotional distance between him and Mo-eum. Their unresolved issues linger as Mo-eum struggles with the state of their relationship. Seok-ryu attends her cooking certification exam, which goes well, but her friend Myeong-u starts growing suspicious about Seung-hyo’s relationship with her. After her test, Myeong-u picks Seok-ryu up and presents her with a bouquet. They meet up with Dong-jin, who is with Na-yun, a junior employee at Atelier.
Na-yun informs them that Dong-jin’s protein powder business has run into trouble due to mold and social media backlash. Seok-ryu tells her parents about the controversy, leading to a heated discussion. However, Dong-jin opens up about his feelings of inadequacy, revealing that his desire to be special for the family drove his poor decisions. Seok-ryu softens and reassures him that he’s just as important as she is, providing a touching moment of sibling support. At the same time, Mo-eum tries once more to reconcile with Dan-ho, but he pushes her away, admitting that he never had romantic feelings for her. This revelation strains their connection even further.

The next day, Seok-ryu receives news that she passed her cooking certification exam on her first attempt. Seung-hyo congratulates her, but later, Mo-eum visits the columbarium for her late senior’s death anniversary, where she unexpectedly encounters Dan-ho and Yeon-du. In a surprising twist, it’s revealed that Yeon-du is not Dan-ho’s daughter, but his niece. Dan-ho’s family perished in a tragic car accident, leaving Yeon-du as the sole survivor. Rumors spread in their old neighborhood, forcing Dan-ho to relocate and take on the role of her father. Despite this revelation, Dan-ho remains resolute in keeping his emotional distance from Mo-eum, fearing further complications.
Meanwhile, Seung-hyo wins another prestigious award and is excited about attending the event with Seok-ryu. However, she, feeling disheartened after a series of job rejections, opposes the idea, citing her fear of their relationship being discovered by their parents. Hurt by her refusal, Seung-hyo decides to skip the event as well. In another subplot, Mi-suk’s friends plan an expensive cruise, which she cannot afford, especially after a rival snack shop steals all her customers. At the same time, Dong-jin cleans up his act, apologizing to his teacher and returning to his job at the gym.
Seok-ryu meets with her cooking class batchmates and realizes that her impressive resume may be working against her when applying for entry-level jobs. Later, when Seung-hyo visits her, he finds a brochure for a U.S. cooking school in her room. Hurt that she’s considering studying abroad again without informing him, Seok-ryu explains her struggles with job rejections and admits that love alone is not enough to sustain her. She asks for space, leaving Seung-hyo feeling conflicted and heartbroken.
As the days go by, Dan-ho stumbles upon Mo-eum drinking alone and brings her home. In front of her mother, he finally confesses his true feelings for her, much to Mo-eum’s drunken surprise. The episode culminates with a tense and emotional turn. Seung-hyo injures his arm in a minor accident at a construction site. Rushing to the hospital, Seok-ryu is overcome with guilt and love, breaking down and confessing her true feelings for him. With all misunderstandings cleared, they embrace, ending the episode on a heartfelt note as their relationship takes a significant step forward.
