Recently, the YouTube channel “by PDC” released a video titled “Lyn: Breaking Free from Public Scrutiny!“.
In the video, Lyn discussed her experiences, “I wouldn’t say I experienced real pain during my career, but after getting married, things changed. After I got married, I intentionally try not to sing very sad songs. I really try hard not to sing love songs. Even within love songs, I try to avoid breakup songs. Right now, I think that rather than saying a hundred words, it’s better to speak through music.” She also mentioned the duet album she released with her husband in October last year, saying, “It’s been 10 years since we got married, and we’re doing well. That album symbolized our journey and showed the kind of music we’ve made together.”
When asked about the difficulties she anticipated after marriage, Lyn admitted, “I knew it would be hard because my expressions would be misinterpreted or twisted. I became an easy target. Whenever I posted something on SNS, articles would spin it in a negative light. It became scary to express myself.” Despite being advised to stay off SNS, she resisted, saying, “Why should I stop to please others? I’m a quiet attention-seeker, and my fans want to see me. Why should I quit for someone else?”
She also revealed the emotional toll it took on her husband Lee Soo. “He felt guilty and uncomfortable seeing me take the brunt of it. That made me feel guilty too. I just wanted to stand up and say what was right, but looking back, I realize it wasn’t helpful for either of us. I’ve learned to let things go and accept that time can resolve these issues. Now, I feel more at peace.”
Meanwhile, Lyn married Lee Soo in 2014, five years after he faced public backlash for allegations of engaging in prostitution involving a minor in 2009. In 2019, when a netizen brought up Lee Soo’s past, Lyn defended him, saying, “I’m not asking you to forget or forgive his past. Yes, the prostitution incident is true, but there are many false claims mixed in.” This led to a heated exchange online.
