Company D had been rumored to be in the process of hiring former ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin. However, Min Hee-jin clarified that she has not met with any investors, including Company D.
According to Woman Economy on Nov 13th, five individuals, including Lee, were set to be registered as internal director candidates for Company D. Company D had planned to present a motion at the extraordinary general meeting of shareholders this month to register these five candidates, including Lee, but the decision was unexpectedly withdrawn.
The media reported, “Among the candidates Company D had previously announced was Company H’s chairman Lee, a graduate of Hanyang University. In the entertainment industry, it was rumored that Lee was Hyein’s (real name Lee Hyein) uncle. Another candidate, Park, was known to be a planner for NewJeans‘ events in Japan.”
This information can be verified in Company D’s public filing with the Financial Supervisory Service’s Data Analysis, Retrieval and Transfer System. According to the filing, Company D withdrew all five previous internal director candidates and replaced them with seven new candidates.
Company D’s filing lists Lee as a graduate of Hanyang University and Company H’s chairman, which aligns with the report by Woman Economy. Lee and Park had first appeared on the internal director candidate list in a filing on Oct 2nd. Lee’s appointment was scheduled to be processed at the extraordinary general meeting on Nov 8th, but the meeting has been delayed twice, to Nov 20th and 26th.
Coincidentally, the timing of Company D’s complete replacement of the internal director candidates coincided with the period when Min Hee-jin denied the investment rumors.
On Nov 5th, Min Hee-jin issued an official statement denying rumors that she had agreed to investments or entered into contracts with anyone, calling the rumors “groundless”. She firmly rejected speculations about her leaving ADOR and joining a new company.
Two days after Min Hee-jin’s statement, Company D announced that they would be replacing all the internal director candidates, including Lee. Currently, Company D and Min Hee-jin’s side have not clarified their relationship with Lee, who is known to be Hyein’s uncle.
On Nov 13th, NewJeans sent a certified letter to ADOR demanding the return of Min Hee-jin, stating that if their request was not met, they would terminate their exclusive contract.
The letter reportedly also clarified that the groundless rumors were untrue.
NewJeans also stated in the certified letter, “There are currently unfounded rumors circulating about the families and relatives of NewJeans members, but NewJeans has no connection to these rumors.”
