Actress Nana, formerly of After School, has addressed the recent backlash from fans of THE BOYZ’s Sunwoo following her comments on a viral video involving the idol.
The controversy began when a video surfaced showing Sunwoo dropping his AirPods and waiting for a security guard to retrieve them, leading to accusations of impolite behavior. Nana commented on the video, expressing that the behavior appeared disrespectful. She later clarified her stance on the fan communication platform Bubble, stating that her reaction was to the behavior depicted in the video, not a judgment of Sunwoo’s character.
Despite her clarification, some fans continued to criticize Nana, going from leaving harsh comments on her SNS to even attacking her via Bubble – a space reserved for fans and requires payment to send messages to artists. In her new messages, Nana emphasized the importance of maintaining respectful discourse and focusing on positive interactions within fan communities.
In particular, Nana wrote, “This is a space for me to communicate with fans who love and support me. Even Instagram has become uncomfortable, and I’m trying to move past it. Coming into this space just to leave comments like that doesn’t seem right. I hope you’ll refrain from doing that. For Sunwoo’s sake as well, I hope you’ll stop here.”
The actress also added, “This is a space just for us, so I’m reading every message one by one. ^^ To my fans — don’t fight because of me. Let’s only speak kindly to each other!”
Upon learning that Sunwoo’s fans have even gone to Bubble to criticize Nana, many netizens were shocked that they’d go so far as to pay money to send harsh messages. A topic on Korean forum “theqoo” regarding this matter has even surpassed 76,000 view and 700 comments in just a few hours, with netizens leaving comments such as:
