Netflix’s Historical Action K-Movie “Uprising” Unveils Premiere Date

Netflix revealed the premiere date for Uprising as October 11 and unveiled the launch poster.

Uprising is set in the chaotic era of the Japanese invasions of Korea. It tells the story of Jong Ryeo (Park Jeong Min), the son of Joseon’s most powerful military family, and his servant Cheon Young (Kang Dong Won), who, after growing up together during the chaotic times of the Japanese invasions of Korea, meet again as enemies.

The K-movie has been selected as the opening film for the 29th Busan International Film Festival. Jeong Han Seok, a Korean film programmer, heightened expectations by describing the movie as “a sophisticated and powerful historical epic that showcases the finest qualities across all dimensions.”

Kang Dong Won plays Cheon Young, a man of low status but exceptional swordsmanship, and Park Jeong Min plays Jong Ryeo, the only son of Joseon’s most elite military family.

Additionally, Kim Shin Rok plays Beom Dong, a member of the Righteous Army (commoners who took up arms to fight against the invaders) with unbreakable determination in the face of any adversity.

Jin Seon Kyu plays Kim Ja Ryung, a noble-born leader of the Righteous Army who leads the people in times of chaos.

Jung Sung Il plays Genshin, the ruthless vanguard of the Japanese army.

Cha Seung Won plays King Seon Jo, a ruler who abandons his people and flees during troubled times.

Uprising is coming to Netflix on October 11.
