Netizens Angry Over Chef Triple Star’s “Personal Life Controversy” at Upcoming Seoul Culinary Event

On October 30, a report revealed that Triple Star (real name Kang Seung-won) has become embroiled in a “double life” controversy. His ex-wife, whom he married and divorced in 2022, has made serious allegations against him. She claims that he successfully got a job at a Michelin restaurant with money from her and that he maintained relationships with both her and another girlfriend simultaneously.

Furthermore, shocking details emerged from a letter (apology note) written by Triple Star himself, in which he described instances such as “a customer dressed provocatively sitting alone at a table, while I secretly watched through CCTV from a dark storeroom,” and “I demanded another man sleep with my wife out of my own greed.”

Additionally, a YouTuber has claimed that Triple Star attempted to misuse restaurant funds without his ex-wife’s knowledge. The restaurant he currently operates was reportedly funded by his ex-wife and his parents, each investing 150 million won. However, after the business began to struggle, Triple Star secretly sent some funds to his parents, which his ex-wife discovered. This incident was one of the reasons she cited for their divorce.

Despite the ongoing personal life controversy, Triple Star is set to participate in the scheduled event. He will attend the “2024 A500BR Seoul Commemorative Special Popup Event,” a culinary event hosted by the city of Seoul on November 3.

The event promises to feature 4 fine dining menus and has garnered attention due to the participation of chefs from Netflix’s “Culinary Class War.” Reservations for the event reportedly sold out in just 10 seconds after they opened.

In light of the controversy surrounding Triple Star, netizens have filed complaints urging him not to participate in the upcoming culinary event, which is funded by the taxes of Seoul citizens, but the Seoul Tourism and Sports Bureau has stated that “the lineup for the culinary event will proceed as planned.”

The city of Seoul also remains firm in its decision, with a city official noting that there are currently no changes since this is a promise made to the citizens, and many people likely made reservations based on his participation; moreover, he has not expressed any intention to withdraw.
