## NewJeans Fans Apologize to ADOR CEO?
Amid escalating controversy, the leaders of a prominent NewJeans fan community have released a formal public apology for allowing a surge of offensive and violent comments targeting the CEO of ADOR, Ju Young Kim, to go unmoderated in their comment sections.
The apology, released on the Korean forum Women’s Generation, has drawn widespread attention as part of the larger conversation surrounding toxic fan culture and the group’s ongoing legal dispute with ADOR. In particular, these fans said in a statement published on April 11, “It was an inexcusable wrongdoing for members of our forum to post insulting comments… We now deeply reflect on the fact that, in doing so, we may have easily inflicted harm on others.”
“Using excessively harsh and offensive language toward the CEO of ADOR is absolutely unacceptable. We sincerely apologize to the individual involved”, they also stated, adding, “Regardless of the legal implications, these comments cannot be justified. We will accept any consequences”.
They then vowed to operate the fan space “with greater awareness and responsibility”, have felt “a great sense of shame” for only realizing the seriousness of the matter after it was brought to public attention.
Offensive Comments That Sparked Outrage
On the other hand, as NewJeans engaged in a contract conflict with ADOR, fans of NewJeans on the forum Women’s Generation left various comments that were disturbingly explicit and aggressive messages aimed at the ADOR CEO. Some notable comments are as below:
- Ju Young Kim, you f\*ing bastard
- I seriously want to k\*ll you.
- Keep kissing Bang Si-hyuk’s ass
- Ju Young Kim’s voice overlapping in my head during the National Assembly hearing — so damn annoying
- deserves to be cursed out in every possible way
Additionally, the same fan community is known to have harassed fans of many other groups (such as those for LE SSERAFIM), and participated in mass trolling, sometimes using xenophobic or sexually charged language. Notably, the “Sakura’s chest is Dokdo, Minji’s is a colony” meme originated from the same community.
NewJeans – ADOR’s latest status
On the other hand, NewJeans, who is currently in a hiatus after the court ruled in favor of ADOR for an injunction banning the girl group’s activities, recently thanked fans via heartfelt notes. The girl group also filed an official objection to the aforementioned injunction, but according to ADOR’s legal representation, nothing changes after the objection hearing.
Meanwhile, ADOR recently released an official statement about taking legal actions against malicious comments, defamation, and fake news related to NewJeans – which has led to mixed response. The issue of NewJeans and ADOR’s contract conflict is expected to continue.
