On December 20, industry sources revealed that an individual identified as “A” filed a report with the Ministry of Justice’s Immigration and Foreign Policy Headquarters under the title, “Application for Deportation of Illegal Resident Phạm Ngọc Hân (Hanni’s real name).”
Hanni, who holds dual Australian-Vietnamese citizenship, had obtained her visa through an exclusive contract with ADOR. However, following NewJeans’ declaration of contract termination with ADOR on the 29th, claims arose that her visa had also been invalidated.
According to the report filed by “A,” Hanni should have surrendered her alien registration card and left Korea within 15 days of claiming the contract termination.
However, these allegations remain unverified. Under the E-6 visa regulations, while a change in workplace must be reported within 15 days, individuals may stay in Korea for up to 30 days to process visa modifications.
In response, ADOR stated, “The exclusive contract with NewJeans is still valid, and we are currently preparing documents for Hanni’s visa extension as per the procedures.”
Furthermore, since ADOR has filed a lawsuit with the Seoul Central District Court seeking confirmation of the validity of their exclusive contract with NewJeans, it is possible the visa will be deemed valid until a final court ruling is issued.
Meanwhile, on December 14, NewJeans launched a new channel called jeanzforfree to communicate with fans. ADOR expressed concerns, stating, “We are facing inquiries and complaints from third parties, including advertisers, regarding the account and its content.”
The ongoing dispute between NewJeans and ADOR revolves around the exclusive contract. NewJeans claims ADOR failed to fulfill its contractual obligations, thereby justifying the termination. ADOR, however, has taken legal action to confirm the contract’s validity.
