On March 10, it was reported that after unilaterally notifying their agency, ADOR, of their departure and beginning independent activities, NewJeans has officially announced the release of fan merchandise under the name “NJZ”, drawing attention. In particular, the group recently unveiled a set of six keyrings through the SNS account @complexchinese, the organizer of ComplexCon, a performance company with a strong presence in the Chinese-speaking market.
The NJZ merchandise consists of keyrings popular items among younger generations—designed in the shape of different animals. There are five versions, each featuring the initials of the members’ names (MJ for Minji, HN for Hanni, DN for Danielle, HR for Haerin, and HI for Hyein), along with a sixth version labeled NZ, seemingly derived from NJZ.
Regarding the merchandise, ComplexChinese announced, “All products will officially launch at the ComplexCon Trend Market in Hong Kong starting on the 21st.” They also hinted at a first-day rush by stating that, although limited in quantity, a large stock would be available at launch.
The upcoming ComplexCon Hong Kong event will mark NewJeans’ first performance as NJZ abandoning their original group name. Additionally, it is expected that the group will perform new songs that were not approved by ADOR. The NJZ-branded performance is scheduled for March 23.
