NewJeans Side with Min Hee-jin, No Comment on Bang Si-hyuk

On November 28, NewJeans held an urgent press conference in Gangnam, Seoul. During the event, the members announced their decision to terminate their exclusive contract with ADOR as of midnight on November 29. The girl group also insisted that they won’t be paying their contract termination penalty since it’s ADOR that violated the contract and not them.

Here, Hyein stated, “There’s a possibility that the five of us might not be able to use the name NewJeans. However, the essence of NewJeans, as represented by the five of us, will not change.”

She firmly added, “We have no intention of giving up the name NewJeans.”

“To some, this might seem like a simple issue of a name or trademark. For us, it’s far from simple. The name encapsulates all the experiences we’ve had together since the day the five of us first met. That’s why we will do everything we can to secure our rights to the name NewJeans”, the female idol continued.

Additionally, when asked if they want to relay any message to HYBE chairman Bang Si-hyuk, Minjin answered, “As previously mentioned, we want to continue working with Min Hee-jin. Therefore, we have nothing to say to Bang Si-hyuk.”

Meanwhile, previously on November 13, NewJeans sent a formal notice to ADOR raising the possibility of terminating their exclusive contract and stated that the deadline is no November 28.
