North Korean Edit of BLACKPINK’s Rosé’s “APT” Went Viral, Featuring Kim Jong-un?

Previously on October 31, a video titled “Jung Eun & Yeo Jung – RKT (Official Music Video)” was published by Instagram User @kaikim_official.

The video, which is an edit of BLACKPINK’s Rosé’s latest single, “APT”, shows North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and his sister, Kim Yo-jong, singing along to the song’s tune, dancing to the choreography, and making wild expressions, has since gone viral with almost 10 million views on Instagram.

Likely to have been made using AI, the edit also changed the word “APT” (“apartment” in Korean pronunciation) to “RKT” (“rocket” in Korean pronunciation), seemingly as a attempt to mention North Korea’s tendency to test-shoot their military rockets.

It seems that Rosé’s “APT” is not only doing well on music charts, but have become an internet sensation with various viral memes and edits that spawned from it.

On the other hand, BLACKPINK’s Rosé will be dropping her solo album “rosie” on December 6th and expected to continue the success of “APT”.

The album will consist of 12 songs, meaning that Rosé will be releasing more songs than BLACKPINK in their first 3 years after debut.
