In the previous episode, Mu-jin gets wrongfully arrested, prompting Mi-joo to bail him out after a clash with her sister Hui-joo. Their reunion stirs old feelings, while back at the university, Mu-jin joins the custodians in their labour strike against the administration’s mistreatment. Despite facing student backlash and sabotage, Mu-jin uses Yeong-suk’s spirit to share a heartfelt story that touches hearts.

When that fails, he turns to modern tactics, secretly livestreaming a rigged workers’ test, exposing the corrupt manager and sparking public outrage. The episode opens with Mu-jin spotting Yoon-jae’s spirit wandering near the hospital. Following it, Mu-jin is alarmed to see Yoon-jae’s physical body being wheeled into the ICU, proof that Yoon-jae is not dead, but caught somewhere between life and death. Realising he’s interacting with Yoon-jae’s spirit, Mu-jin clings to hope that he can somehow save him. But before he can do more, Yoon-jae’s spirit fades away.

Just then, Yoon-jae’s elder sister overhears Mu-jin speaking his name and confronts him. They strike up a conversation, during which she reveals that Yoon-jae had collapsed at the supermarket where he was working. This surprises Mu-jin, who distinctly remembers Yoon-jae landing a job at a company, not a supermarket. Something doesn’t add up.

Learning that Yoon-jae had ended up at RioMart, Mu-jin suspects foul play. Determined to find out what happened, he convinces Yoon-jae’s sister to let him investigate the case. At the hospital, Mu-jin runs into Gyeon-u and Hui-joo, who are there due to a bout of food poisoning. After hearing about Yoon-jae’s condition and unexpected job change, all three agree to get to the bottom of the mystery.

Their investigation leads them to the shocking truth: the company that hired Yoon-jae, Pocel, abruptly withdrew their job offers at the last minute, forcing him to take up strenuous work at the supermarket to make ends meet. The trio heads to RioMart and speaks to an employee who found him unconscious. What they learn is disheartening; staff are overworked, denied proper breaks, and lack basic facilities like drinking water.

While speaking to the employee, a senior staff member intervenes and shuts the conversation down. When Mu-jin requests access to the CCTV footage, he’s told it requires approval from the U.S. head office. Gyeon-u volunteers to contact them, but his efforts fall flat—they simply don’t care.

Back at the hospital, Mu-jin encounters Yoon-jae’s spirit again and tries to lift his spirits. But Yoon-jae, overwhelmed by despair, says he wants to give up on life. Things worsen when his condition takes a critical turn and doctors announce an emergency surgery. Yoon-jae’s sister is distraught, and Mu-jin steps in to help cover the surgery costs—he refuses to let Yoon-jae give up.

Desperate for guidance, Hui-joo and Gyeon-u concoct a plan: they make Mu-jin black out so he can meet Bo-sal in the spirit realm. Their risky move pays off, but Bo-sal is cryptic, offering little information aside from telling them they’ll manage.

The next day, the team decides to film a video at the supermarket to raise awareness. The same employee who found Yoon-jae sends Mu-jin a screenshot from his step counter, showing over 40,000 steps a day, proving that Yoon-jae had been walking over 20 km daily, pushing heavy carts without rest. Gyeon-u takes on the exhausting job for a day while Hui-joo records everything.

They release the video, shedding light on the appalling conditions of the supermarket workers. However, instead of support, they’re met with cruel comments accusing Yoon-jae of having a chronic illness. Frustrated but undeterred, Mu-jin asks Yoon-jae’s sister for permission to check his flat for recent medical records.

At Yoon-jae’s place, they find a picture of a beach with the caption “better life” pinned above his bed—a quiet dream he held onto. They also located a recent medical report confirming that he had no pre-existing health conditions.

As the video gains traction, genuine comments start pouring in—former colleagues, friends, and customers speak up about Yoon-jae’s hardworking nature and kind heart. Encouraged, Hui-joo and Gyeon-u meet one of the commenters, who shares touching stories about Yoon-jae’s dedication. The wave of public support grows, eventually prompting a response from the RioMart CEO.

Meanwhile, Mu-jin takes Yoon-jae’s spirit out on a day to lift his mood. He rents a flashy car that Yoon-jae always admired and takes him for a long drive. They talk about life, regrets, and dreams. Mu-jin drives him to the beach from the photo—the one Yoon-jae had longed to visit. The two share a moving moment of peace and reflection.

When Yoon-jae returns to the hospital, he sees his sister smiling as she reads the warm comments left by strangers online. Overcome with emotion, Yoon-jae weeps—and finally opens his eyes. His young nephew jumps with joy as life returns to Yoon-jae’s body. News spreads quickly, and the supermarket not only agrees to cover all of Yoon-jae’s expenses but also promises to treat its employees better going forward.

To celebrate, the gang meets by the Han River for fried chicken and beer. Hui-joo, filled with affection, tells Gyeon-u she wants them to be a couple officially. Gyeon-u beams and accepts, and they share a sweet hug, marking the beginning of their romantic journey.

Yoon-jae reveals he’s decided to study law and work with Mu-jin. What started as a team of three is now a solid four—and with new hope and purpose, they toast to fresh beginnings.

The episode thoughtfully explores labour exploitation as the trio uncovers the shocking working conditions Yoon-jae endured after being unfairly dropped by his employer. The emotional weight is carried beautifully through scenes of Mu-jin’s growing desperation, Yoon-jae’s quiet suffering, and the team’s resolve to seek justice. The supermarket exposé, while initially met with harsh criticism, ultimately turns into a powerful viral campaign, fuelled by testimonies from those whose lives Yoon-jae touched.
