The night before their swap, Mi-ji and Mi-rae head to a salon for a makeover that will help them impersonate each other. Mi-rae chops her long hair short like Mi-ji’s, while Mi-ji adds hair extensions and dyes her hair black to match her sister’s. They spend the evening going over all the little things they’ll need to do to avoid being caught. Before handing over her phone, Mi-rae even blocks Ho-su’s number—just in case Mi-ji is tempted to answer.

Morning arrives, and Mi-ji wakes up as Mi-rae. She heads off to work in the office, while Mi-rae, now Mi-ji, prepares to travel to the countryside to begin her temporary farming job. Their mother, as always, doesn’t suspect a thing.

At the office, Mi-ji quickly begins to stray from Mi-rae’s instructions to keep a low profile. Instead of blending in, she acts boldly and confidently, shocking her co-workers, who have only ever known Mi-rae as timid and withdrawn. Her sudden change in behaviour raises eyebrows, but Mi-ji finds the job surprisingly dull. She spends the whole day scrolling through emails and waiting for 6 p.m. to arrive so she can go home.

Meanwhile, Mi-rae arrives at the strawberry farm, where she’s greeted by the quiet and mysterious Se-jin. After a short tour, Se-jin bluntly informs her that there’s no actual work for her to do—yet she’ll still be paid. Mi-rae is baffled but keeps quiet.

Days pass, and both sisters start feeling the strain of their swapped lives. Mi-ji becomes frustrated with the monotony of office life. She finds it isolating and empty. On the other hand, Mi-rae grows restless and irritated at the farm, doing nothing all day and watching Se-jin do the same. She eventually learns that he purposely kept her idle, curious to see how long she’d stick around without any tasks.

Back in the office, Mi-ji’s senior, Tae-gwan—who thinks she’s Mi-rae—assigns her to a project without revealing it’s a trap. Wanting to feel useful, Mi-ji accepts. She heads out to Childal, where she tries to persuade an elderly restaurant owner named Ro-sa to sell her land so a construction project can move forward. Ro-sa is the last holdout, and Mi-ji’s polite attempts to win her over fail miserably—Ro-sa throws salt at her and sends her packing.

On the way back, Mi-ji runs into Ho-su. Their eyes meet, and both feel a spark. He confronts her about blocking his number, but Mi-ji, sticking to Mi-rae’s rules, denies it and behaves coldly. Still, her feelings for him push her to agree to dinner when he says he needs to talk.

Meanwhile, Mi-rae has had enough of Se-jin’s games. She explodes at him for treating her like a test subject, even throwing a chair in anger before storming out. She later cleans up the warehouse to prove a point, then resigns. Mi-ji calls Mi-rae to tell her about the dinner with Ho-su, but Mi-rae firmly instructs her to stay away from him. Mi-ji, however, doesn’t mention the project she took on—especially because one of Mi-rae’s handwritten notes had warned her not to trust Tae-gwan. Unfortunately, Mi-ji had accepted the assignment before reading it.

Back in the countryside, Mi-rae has an awkward run-in with Gyeong-gu, who still has feelings for her, believing she’s Mi-ji. Later, Ho-su meets Mi-ji (thinking she’s Mi-rae) for dinner and opens up about a whistleblower case. He reveals that Mi-rae had once filed a report against an abusive colleague but later withdrew it. Mi-ji, keeping her role, reassures him that it had nothing to do with him and that Mi-rae had personal reasons for dropping the case.

That night, Mi-ji asks Mi-rae about it, but Mi-rae doesn’t say much. She does, however, warn her again to stay away from Ho-su. She’s worried he might be the only person who could figure out their secret. A flashback confirms that he can tell them apart—he once had a crush on Mi-ji. But it’s unclear if he thought she was Mi-rae at the time or if he knew the truth all along. And now, is he falling for Mi-rae, not realising it’s actually Mi-ji?

Meanwhile, Mi-rae notices something’s off about a broken door and presses Mi-ji about it, but Mi-ji avoids answering. The sisters begin to realise that despite being twins, they don’t truly know each other as well as they thought.

Later, Mi-rae visits their grandmother, who’s unwell. At first, Granny calls her “Mi-ji,” which comforts her, but once they’re alone, Granny calls her “Mi-rae.” It’s clear that she knows the truth—and always will. She gently encourages Mi-rae, understanding that the swap must have had a deeper reason. Mi-rae finally breaks down in tears.

Elsewhere, Ho-su is told by his superior that he was deliberately sent to Mi-rae’s case to discourage her from pursuing it. Feeling manipulated and ashamed, he asks “Mi-rae” to meet. Meanwhile, Mi-rae (as Mi-ji) quietly drops a farming strategy outside Se-jin’s office and drives away. Se-jin finds the file, smiles, and seems impressed—perhaps Mi-rae has finally earned his respect.

Mi-ji returns to Ro-sa’s restaurant to try again. This time, she raises her voice—not aggressively, but firmly—and surprises Ro-sa. Though Ro-sa still throws salt at her, there’s a small shift. Later, Mi-ji gets a call from Ro-sa saying she’s willing to read the documents and asks to meet the next day at 10 a.m. Mi-ji, thrilled, jumps up and down with excitement.

Seeing her reaction, Ho-su blurts out, “Mi-ji?” Mi-ji freezes, realising her cover has been blown. The episode ends with Ho-su looking at her intently and asking again, “It is Mi-ji, right?” And Mi-ji stands still, stunned, unsure what to say.

Our Unwritten Seoul Episode 2 Review

This episode was a delightful mess in the best possible way—full of mistaken identities, emotional landmines, and one hilariously chaotic attempt at corporate espionage. Watching Mi-ji and Mi-rae switch lives continues to be a source of both comedy and quiet heartbreak, especially as each begins to realise how little they actually knew about the burdens the other carries. Mi-ji, now trapped in a soul-sucking desk job, quickly discovers that doing nothing all day is not as dreamy as it sounds, while Mi-rae, stuck in a suspiciously chill farming gig, ends up yelling at a man who just wanted to test her grit. The pacing was tight, the laughs frequent, and the salt-throwing old lady Ro-sa? Scene-stealer of the episode.

But beneath all the fun, there’s something tender unravelling—particularly in the way their grandmother immediately sees through the swap, offering Mi-rae comfort without confrontation. That quiet moment, contrasted with the growing tension between Mi-ji and Ho-su, gave the episode its emotional punch. Ho-su’s slow realisation that the woman he’s with isn’t who she says she is adds a thrilling edge, especially as he calls her out right at the end. It’s a game-changing moment that promises even bigger twists ahead, and we’re here for every second of the twin trouble to come.
