Premiering on March 7th, Netflix’s original drama “When Life Gives You Tangerines” unfolds the adventurous life of Ae-soon, the “remarkable rebel”, and Gwan-sik, the “unyielding iron”, full of challenges and trials throughout the four seasons.
With writer Lim Sang-choon of “When the Camellia Blooms” and director Kim Won-seok, known for “My Mister” and “Misaeng”, joining forces, along with a stellar cast featuring Park Bo-gum, IU, Park Hae-joon and Moon So-ri, the drama had been highly anticipated even before its release.
As “When Life Gives You Tangerines” unveiled itself to eager viewers, it captivated viewers across all age groups with its realistic and heartfelt portrayals, delicate direction and compelling storytelling. The drama convincingly depicts characters navigating an ever-changing world, from their youthful adventures to the struggles of middle age.
Riding this momentum, as of today (March 8th), just one day after its release, “When Life Gives You Tangerines” claimed the No.1 spot on Netflix’s Top 10 Series in Korea ranking.
Its popularity is also beginning to spread overseas. International critics on Rotten Tomatoes praised it as a “sweet yet bitter story”, a “message of hope in desperate times” and a “simple yet beautifully written, exquisitely acted and vividly realized drama”.
The first act, consisting of four episodes, was released simultaneously. The drama will be unveiled in four-episode segments over four weeks, totaling 16 episodes.
