The incident took place on December 30 and quickly went viral online, prompting fans to criticize and express disbelief.

Park stated in a statement from his agency, BH Entertainment, that he accidentally posted the controversial photo while “scrolling through his direct messages.”

The statement added, “He was so stunned to have received that message that he deleted it in an instant and is now reflecting on it.”

The agency also said that they are doing their best to make sure that this kind of error doesn’t happen again in response to the protest following the incident.

In the porn parody, many women wore costumes similar to those in “Squid Game,” resulting in massive confusion and rage from his followers.

Despite Park deleting the post shortly after it was published, it was quickly screenshotted and spread across social media, increasing the criticism.

But fans reacted skeptically to Park’s explanation, wondering how such a thing could happen with so many steps involved in uploading anything on Instagram.

On the Korean community forum theqoo, people wrote: “That excuse does not stick” and “How do you accidentally upload a story?”

Park has been recently seen in Season 2 of “Squid Game.” The incident takes place just a few days after its launch, in which Park plays the character of transgender Hyun Joo.

While there’s been some hype surrounding the actor’s performance, this latest controversy has also detracted attention from his performance and cast some doubt on his social media management.
