‘Perfect Family’ Episode 9: Mystery of Kim Young Dae’s Death Finally Uncovered

In the ninth episode of Perfect Family, the mystery about the death of Kim Young Dae’s character was finally solved.

The show aired on September 11 demonstrated the tense confrontation that revealed the event from a dark past between two central figures, Choi Jin-hyuk and Choi Hyun-min.

During their discussion, Jin-hyuk shared with Detective Shin Dong-ho that after 12 years in prison, Hyun-min was released as they needed more circumstantial evidence to keep him in.

The reason why his friend and wife’s father was  jailed was killing his own son. As soon as he got out of prison, Hyun-min began to blackmail Jin-hyuk for money, using her daughter Sun-hee, played by Park Joo-hyun.

The truth about the fire that took the life of Park Kyung-ho (Kim Young-dae), that everyone believes Hyun-min had set was also shown in the latest episode.

Hyun-min witnessed Eun-joo (Sun-hee’s mother) checking on Kyung-ho’s condition. In exchange for his silence, he demanded money, forcing Eun-joo to comply out of fear that her daughter would be accused of murder.

However, when she left, Hyun-min set the the fire on his own.

As Hyun-min’s extortion attempts continued, Jin-hyuk and Eun-joo made the drastic decision to send their daughter abroad to escape his control. They even devised a plan to kill Hyun-min by exploiting his peanut allergy. This plot unfolded while Sun-hee’s misunderstanding about her parents’ intentions was finally cleared up.

However, the situation took another turn when Sun-hee, despite everything, ran to her biological father, Hyun-min, leaving Jin-hyuk in emotional turmoil. As Hyun-min retreated into the warehouse, holding Sun-hee at gunpoint, Jin-hyuk stormed in, engaging in a brutal struggle that ended with both men falling from a height, leaving Sun-hee in despair.

In a flashback, the episode also revealed the origins of Jin-hyuk and Hyun-min’s troubled relationship. The two first met during a violent robbery case in which Jin-hyuk, under his real name Choi Hyun-min, was the prosecutor and Hyun-min the suspect. The reason behind Jin-hyuk’s name change remains a mystery, adding further intrigue to the plot.

Perfect Family Episode 10 will air on September 12 at 9:50 p.m. KST.
