SM Entertainment is set to make a splash in the Korean music industry with an innovative new project. The renowned agency has teamed up with TV Chosun to introduce a fresh trot idol group PROJECT T-5 , aiming to revitalise the trot music landscape with a unique five-member ensemble.
On August 13, SM Entertainment unveiled a teaser image on Instagram, offering a glimpse of the group’s members. While their faces remain hidden, the photo of their silhouettes has sparked considerable excitement among fans and industry observers. The collaboration, named T-5, was formalized through a signing ceremony recently held by SM Entertainment and TV Chosun. The group will include five talented individuals, featuring global K-pop trainees, as well as actors and singers who gained recognition through TV Chosun’s 2020 reality show Mr. Trot.

Following the announcement of PROJECT T-5, a rumored lineup has surfaced online, sparking further excitement. The rumored members include Han Taei, the former main vocalist of MR.MR and a contestant on Mister Trot 2; Jung Yoon Jae, a supporting actor known for his roles in Missing 2 and Boyhood; Shohei, a former member of S.M.ROOKIES; Lim Chae-Pyung, also a former contestant on Mister Trot 2; and Seo Woo-Hyuk, a supporting actor recognized for his role in The Glory.
Veteran composer Cho Yeong-su, celebrated for his work on Mr. Trot and Miss Trot, will be overseeing the production of this new group. Cho’s involvement ensures that the project will benefit from his extensive experience and creative vision. The group’s development, from training to debut, will be captured in a documentary-style program set to air on TV Chosun.
