The upcoming episode will be continuing on the emotional rollercoaster as Hyun-woo and Hae-in become awkward again as they spend time together. They share adorable reactions but they also experience scary situations as Hae-in’s illness gets worse. Hyun-woo is seen praying in a church as well as crying at a hospital. Hae-in, on the other hand, says that in her dream, it seems like someone familiar visited her. She assumes that the person was taking her away from Earth – eluding that her time has come.

Was that person her deceased brother? Will she come out of it? Will Hyun-woo give up on her?

On the other side of the world, Eun-sung goes on to find ways to trick the Hong family into distrusting Hyun-woo. He finds a locker in his room and immediately takes a picture. The entire family gather in Hyun-woo’s room to break open the safe. The shocked reaction of the family members shows that they end up finding some incriminating documents in the safe.

Did they find the divorce papers or something worse? What will be the fate of Hyun-woo and Hae-in?

Queen of Tears Episode 5 Recap

In the previous episode, they share a sweet embrace and seek shelter from the rain. She explains that she came to his hometown because his sister texted her about his father losing the elections. To compete, she brings steak and lobster, making Hyun-woo laugh.

We go back to the Baek house where Hyun-woo and Hae-in talk about her experience during the elections. She tells him that the residents were all feeding her different kinds of meat but she felt loved when Hyun-woo’s mom called her ‘her baby’ and advised the rest of them not to be forced to eat. They share a sweet scene as he dries her hair with his ancient hair dryer. He also puts medicine on her small injuries, making her heart flutter. Just as they are about to kiss, Hyun-woo scurries out of the house, leaving her alone.

He spends time with his brother and Hae-in comes to find him. She hears him say that he doesn’t want to go back to the room unless she has fallen asleep, making her feel disappointed. We are taken back to the time when they lost their baby and Hyun-woo felt extremely agitated at Hae-in’s cold antics of removing everything related to the baby from the room. When questioned, Hae-in simply told him that there was no use for that room anymore. Feeling sad at her reaction, he decided to move into that room and broke down in his bed when he saw the lone glow-in-the-dark star on the ceiling.

They reach their home the next day and it’s raining again but Hyun-woo being a caring husband, follows her with an umbrella, making sure she does not get wet. As they argue about the previous night, she walks away from him and meets Yoon Eun-sung who takes her under his umbrella and walks away – leaving Hyun-woo feeling jealous.

Eun-sung finds out from Grace Goh that despite the frosty attitude between the Hong family and Hyun-woo, they always listen to what he has to say. In another scene, Hae-in and her mother share a cold conversation and the latter brings up the video of Hae-in and her mother-in-law. On the other hand, Hae-in’s condition doesn’t get better. With her low white blood cell count, she is no longer eligible for the treatment in Germany, frustrating Hae-in.

At the hospital, Hae-in gets into a heated argument with her doctor where Beom-ja hears everything. They share a heart-to-heart but Beom-ja reassures her that she will be fine, while she goes to her car and cries alone. Later, Hae-in ends up leaving alone for Germany without telling Hyun-woo. Beom-ja informs Hyun-woo and he feels confused.

He spends time with his friend, but Hae-in’s interview from episode 1 leaves him emotional. Determined to be with her, he goes to Germany to meet her. In Germany, Hae-in learns she is not eligible for treatment due to her body not being ready. Disheartened, she visits a historical site where she spent time with Hyun-woo. She gets a shoe bite, and Hyun-woo swoops in to take care of her like a prince, changing her shoes while she stares at him.

He apologises for not being there when she needed him most. She confesses that she thought all she needed was to be healthy, but what she needed was to be at home with him. They hug, cry, and share a passionate kiss at the end of the episode.
