“Doubt” received this honor at the Kim Soo-hyun Drama Art Hall, the country’s only drama literary center operated by the Cheongju Cultural Industry Promotion Foundation. It was named “2024 Drama of the Year”, cementing its artistic value.
The award evaluates dramas aired on terrestrial, general programming and cable networks based on themes, storytelling and direction. “Doubt” stood out among 75 dramas aired between November 2023 and November 2024, claiming the prize in the serialized drama category.
Judges praised “Doubt” as “a work that deeply explores fundamental human issues while delivering a significant message about trust and ethics”.
“Doubt” depicts the dilemma faced by South Korea’s best profiler when he discovers his daughter’s secret related to a murder crime.
“Doubt” opened with a viewership rating of 5.6% and concluded with a series-high of 9.6%, earning widespread acclaim.
Viewers on platforms like Naver Open Talk left comments such as “‘Doubt’ is incredibly captivating“, “It made me reflect on family in a new light“, “I was so immersed that my eyes hurt from watching it so intently“…
The success of “Doubt” didn’t end there.
It also won the Grand Prize at the Broadcasting Works (Content) Awards hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and organized by the Korea Communications Agency (KCA). Judges recognized it as the most creative and well-executed work of the year.
Additionally, the drama swept major categories at the Korean Television Producers Association’s Grimae Awards, taking home Best Picture, Best Direction, Best Editing and Best Actor/Actress awards.
“Doubt” also topped the “2024 Series of the Year” list, ranking first among the top 10 series.
Director Song Yeon-hwa, actors Han Suk-kyu and Chae Won-bin were individually recognized, further solidifying the drama’s overall excellence.
Centered on the psychological conflict between father Jang Tae-su (Han Suk-kyu) and daughter Jang Ha-bin (Chae Won-bin), “Doubt” delivers a powerful message about family amid suspicion and betrayal, leaving a profound emotional impact on viewers.
