Romance in the House Episode 8 Recap

Moo-jin and Mi-rae return home with a better understanding of each other, bringing a new dawn to their relationship. However, a storm awaits them when Ae-yeon calls them both inside and shows them the contract she found in Mi-rae’s room. Angered by the contract and the feeling she has been fighting these days, she tells Mi-rae that she doesn’t have to take on the burden of the family.

Mi-rae shouts back that if it wasn’t her then there was no one else, and she had no choice but to be the head of the household even when that is not what she wanted. Ae-yeon and Moo-jin are shocked by this and Mi-rae realises what she has done, so to change the topic she feigns pain and shows her wound to Ae-yeon.

With this, the night ends, but the complex feelings spurted out in the moment follow the trio for the days to come. The next day, Mi-rae tries to pacify Ae-yeon’s anger on many occasions, but the latter is not ready to face her daughter as she too feels guilty for holding back Mi-rae. Later, she bumps into Tae-pyeong who takes her out for dinner and finally gathers the courage to ask her out on a date.

Mi-rae accepts him and promises to talk about it when things settle down with her mother. Elsewhere, Ae-yeon meets Moo-jin and takes his copy of the contract to tear it along with the one she found in Mi-rae’s room. After this, she talks to him as Mi-rae’s father asking where they went wrong that Mi-rae had to burden herself over their problems.

Moo-jin understands her feelings and tells her that she has done a good job being her mother, and it was all his fault that led to them becoming this way. He tells her that she was right when she told him that he overlooked the things she gave up when they got married and apologised for not doing better.

The next day, a box filled with mysteries begins to open when Jeong-hyeok looks into the trash he takes from Moo-jin’s house and Hyeon-jae opens the bag Moo-jin hides in his closet. Meanwhile, Ae-yeon spends some time with Jin-hee and talks about how it felt to let go of her children, especially her eldest daughter after they got married.

Jin-hee tells her how it was hard but there was no choice but to go on with life without her daughter. As she thinks about this, she returns home to find Mi-rae has prepared a surprise for her to ask for her forgiveness. Ae-yeon sighs at this and hugs her daughter, telling her that she isn’t mad at her anymore.

The next day, Moo-jin is happy to see that the mother-daughter duo has made up. Later, he gets a call from his baseball mate, who asks him to attend the game as he is coaching the team and doesn’t want them to lose. Considering Moo-jin as his lucky charm, he continues to call and text him for the rest of the day.

Elsewhere, Ae-yeon’s feelings for Moo-jin are shaken when she first finds him on the rooftop planting flowers that she likes. Later, Hyeong-jae shows her the bag hidden in Moo-jin’s closet which contains his children’s baseball gloves, a photo album and more.
