Romance in the House Episode 9 Recap

Mi-rae and Tae-pyeon have begun their dating era and while the happiness on Mi-rae’s face doesn’t seem to leave, her mother gives her a sudden shock that shakes her world. Upon arriving home, she finds out that the passcode of the door has been changed and tries to call her mother for the same. Ae-yeon sends her an address and tells her to come there without revealing anything.

Upon arriving at the location, she is shocked to find that everything from her room has been moved to this new place and understands that her mother is kicking her out. She begins apologising to Ae-yeon thinking that her mother is still angry at her, but Ae-yeon tells her that she is no longer angry but wishes for Mi-rae to live for herself now.

When Mi-rae insists on moving back, Ae-yeon tells her that she is also doing this for herself as she wishes to live for herself from here on. This makes Mi-rae unable to refute back and stop in her tracks while Ae-yeon runs away from there. Some distance later, Ae-yeon falls to her knees and begins crying while Moo-jin arrives to give her a shoulder to lean on.

Elsewhere, Tae-pyeon also gets an unexpected visit from his father who puts forth an offer in front of him to work at the company for three months. If he is unable to blend in well then his father will let go of him, but if he does then he can take on the responsibilities as the CEO. The next morning, Mi-rae wakes up to people calling her and asking about her move-out.

When she gets a message from Tae-pyeong who is clueless about this whole ordeal, she makes her way to his school where she begins breaking some wooden boards. After a quick session, she tells Tae-pyeong about what happened and he tells her that her mother made this decision for Mi-rae’s well-being.

However, this comment doesn’t dwell well with Mi-rae so Tae-pyeong changes the topic and tells her that they will find a way to make her mother regret this decision. He takes her shopping for necessities that she would be needing at her new place during which he understands that she knows nothing about living alone. Later, he gives her tips about being alert and things she can do to be safe, while also hinting at the possibility of being invited inside one day.

Meanwhile, Moo-jin busies himself to take care of Ae-yeon who is going through an empty-nest period as she misses Mi-rae. Later, Mi-rae tries to check on Ae-yeon by returning home only to witness her having a fun time with Moo-jin while Medal (their dog) has also warmed up to him. Moo-jin sees her walking away from there and follows her to the nearby bar. Moo-jin understands the state she is in but tells her that they are doing this for her good.

Mi-rae understands where he is coming from but sticks to the fact that she doesn’t feel burdened then why have the two made this decision for her? With this, she walks away while Moo-jin is left behind answering the bar owner’s question about how his presence has split his family. He tells him that he just wanted to exist near his family so that he could be there for them whenever they needed him.

Elsewhere, Ae-yeon approaches Tae-pyeong and smoothly hands over the responsibility of treating her daughter well to him. Tae-pyeong also doesn’t disappoint her as he makes sure to keep Mi-rae happy through his actions and by taking her for some ice skating. He later even gifts her a bicycle to travel to work which brings a smile to her face.

The next day, Moo-jin talks to Hyeon-jae about his plans for the future and tries to get him away from trying his hand in business which leaves Hyeon-jae angry as he hopes for his father to support him. Meanwhile, Mi-rae and Tae-pyeong try to go on a date which is interrupted by her colleagues who make it into a group lunch which the two cannot avoid.

Later, when the group returns to work, they see Ae-yeon with Moo-jin on his bike and are left awestruck by the scene in front of them. While Ae-yeon tries to hide her connection with him, but the two fail to do so. However, unknown to her, her cool look when removing the helmet catches one of the employee’s eye who tries to recruit her for a modelling job.

While Ae-yeon thinks about the same, she sees Mi-rae checking on the different stalls inside the mart and tries to talk to her, but Mi-rae’s cold attitude leaves her hanging. She soon realises the pampering she would get at home and begins to feel guilty towards Ae-yeon.

Suddenly, she sees a letter lying on the floor and picks it up to find that it was written by Ae-yeon who tells her about how to go about completing the different tasks at home. She ends the letter telling Mi-rae that just because she is living away doesn’t mean that the villa is not her home as Ae-yeon wishes to make the villa a place which can be her comfort and escape from the world, and not a burden.

This is all it takes for Mi-rae to realise her mistakes as she rushes back home to see Ae-yeon sitting in her now empty bedroom as she cries. Ae-yeon is surprised to see Mi-rae here but doesn’t push her away when Mi-rae cries out that this is the moment when she wishes for the comfort of home. Later, she tells Ae-yeon that she finally realises everything that Ae-yeon has been doing to support her.

While she always felt that she is the one taking care of everyone, the truth is that it was Ae-yeon who was carrying the bigger burden this whole while. She has finally understood Ae-yeon’s reason behind making this decision and promises to fly to where Ae-yeon wishes for her as she grows up in a new way here on. The next day, Mi-rae goes to the office with a newfound goal in mind, only to receive a new surprise when the CEO brings Tae-pyeong with him and introduces him as his son.

Following this, he tells everyone that Tae-pyeong will be their new joined who will now be working under Mi-rae.

Romance in the House Episode 9 Review

Episode 9 brings a newfound growth in both Ae-yeon and Mi-rae who welcome a new phase of their lives and relationship through a separation that was necessary and long overdue. The two set into this change with tears in their eyes, but understand the importance of the same, albeit a little slower for Mi-rae. As the two set on this new journey, the other characters fall back as the support system for the two women which shows us another side of a green-flag relationship.

Meanwhile, it looks like Moo-jin’s history is soon going to be revealed as we slowly reach the finale week and we just hope that this was worth the wait. The intensity of the mystery set up behind Moo-jin’s rise to fame has been quite high and with such high hopes, we only wish for this reveal to hit us hard.

Altogether, this episode brought in another milestone that is important in a parent-child relationship and portrayed it beautifully. With this, we look forward to what comes next in the many relationships on this show.
