While Onew and Taemin both left SM in March this year, SHINee Minho talked about why he decided to continue his 17-year loyalty to the label.
On November 11, the male icon, who just dropped his first solo full-length album “CALL BACK” on the 4th, appeared as a guest on KBS Cool FM’s “Park Myung Soo’s Radio Show.”
Here, Minho discussed his contributions to SM Entertainment as well as explained the reason he renewed his exclusive contract with the company for the third time.
Starting with SHINee’s influence and power reflected within the label, the “FIREWORKS” singer revealed:
“We can say that SHINee has also built the 3rd and 4th floors (of SM Entertainment’s building).”
He also confirmed that he receives stocks from SM given by the label to all its artists. Regarding why he signed another contract with SM together with Key, Minho refuted that he was given better conditions but rather it was his personal decision based on trust.
The K-pop legend explained:
“I renewed my contract with the company. It hasn’t been that long since I did it. Rather than focusing on the good conditions, it’s more about trust. I’ve been together with the company since my debut, and sometimes, I think they are the ones who know me better than I do. So I put my faith and trust in them while we work together.”
In April, Minho and Key both announced that they would remain under SM and decided to both work as solo artists. On the flip side, their leader Onew signed with Griffin, the same with Taemin who started anew under Big Planet Made Entertainment to pursue respective individual careers.
On Nov. 30th and Dec. 1st, Minho will have his first solo concert in South Korea, “MEAN: OF MY FIRST – 2024 MINHO CONCERT” which will be held at Korea University Hwajeong Tiger Dome.
Despite their different paths, the four members attested to Shawols (fandom) that they will continue to work as SHINee.
