On March 13, a video of Kim Sae-ron at around 15 years old was shared on X (formerly Twitter), showing her with a youthful face and delicate physique. The footage has left many viewers unsettled, with comments such as, “She wasn’t just a minor – she was visibly a child,” and “How could a 30-year-old man even consider dating a girl this young? This whole situation is deeply disturbing.”
English-speaking netizens, in particular, have reacted with intense criticism, calling the allegations “grooming” and “predatory behavior.”
Kim Sae-ron’s family previously stated via the YouTube channel Garo Sero Research Institute on March 10 that she had dated Kim Soo-hyun from 2015 to 2021. At the start of their alleged relationship, Kim Sae-ron was only 15, while Kim Soo-hyun was 27.
As the controversy grows, Kim Sae-ron’s past works from 2015, when she was still a child actress, are being revisited. At the time, she played young Choi Kang-hee in MBC’s “Glamorous Temptation” and starred in the web drama “To Be Continued” and KBS2’s “Snowy Road.”
In 2020, Kim Sae-ron joined Kim Soo-hyun’s agency, Gold Medalist, and transitioned into more mature roles. She later appeared in SBS’s “Nobody Knows,” the web drama “The Great Shaman Ga Doo-shim,” and Netflix’s “Bloodhounds.” However, following her DUI incident, her role in “Bloodhounds” was significantly reduced before its June 2023 release.
With mounting evidence and resurfaced photos fueling the controversy, Gold Medalist has announced plans to issue a follow-up statement next week.
