Upon learning about this, Korean netizens showed mixed reactions, with some expressing dissatisfaction about SM’s tendency to not let artists freely explore their musical journeys. However, some defended the agency, saying that the songs may not be good, and SM was just trying to ensure the quality of aespa songs.

Below are some comments from netizens:

  • My bias is also under SM, and it is very common for them to get their self-composed songs rejected as well
  • SM may be limiting their artists a bit too much
  • Why are you guys finding this to be an issue? Should SM just carelessly release songs made by members then? It’s clear that they focus on quality
  • The songs are probably not that good so SM rejected tho
  • Well, I understand that the company may want to ensure quality, but I still hope that these songs still get released some day…
