SONEs found themselves giggling and kicking the air after Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon received a romantic confession from heartthrob actor Kang Hoon on national TV.
On December 21, tvN’s entertainment show Amazing Saturday welcomed actors Kang Hoon, Song Geon Hee, and Yoo Seon Ho as its guests. The three stars are currently experiencing high popularity for their second male lead roles that earned love as much as the main male characters.
Kang Hoon starred in the popular drama Dear Hyeri, while Song Geon Hee became notable for his role in the global hit My Lovely Runner. Yoo Seon Ho, on the other hand, headlined the romantic series The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract.
Meanwhile, it was revealed in the episode that the three share the same love for the Girls’ Generation leader, one of the program’s mainstays.
With this, the studio felt fanboy and green flag energy from the handsome celebrity guests, especially when Kang Hoon demonstrated his gentlemanliness while professing his long-time admiration for the K-pop icon.
“It was a day that I’ve been dreaming of. I’m a Girls’ Generation fan, and I liked Taeyeon a lot. It was thanks to her that I became an actor. Thank you,” said the actor while facing the singer.
Prior to this, through his past TV show appearances, Kang Hoon has revealed that he became an actor due to his love for Taeyeon, per the Korean media outlet Ilgan Sports.
As a result, the Amazing Saturday cast members kept on teasing the two celebrities, who even let them sit next to each other. Their palpable chemistry, although they were only sitting, was enough to give viewers butterflies in their tummies.
But it was Kang Hoon’s next move that made even the hosts and staff members scream.
In the program, the mainstays and guests were asked to make an acrostic poem using Taeyeon’s name. Kang Hoon was the first one to do it, but he quickly owned the game.
“Taeyeon noona,” he said, referencing “Tae.” For “Yeon,” the actor boldly asked, “What do you think of (dating) someone younger?”
For context, “noona” is an honorific used by younger guys to address older women, while “yeonhanam” means “younger man.”
Hearing this, the whole set was sent into a frenzy, making a loud declaration that Kang Hoon already won. Taeyeon even hid herself behind the Christmas prop as she was visibly shy after the confession.
When the video circulated online, it created a huge buzz, with fans starting a discussion about Taeyeon and Kang Hoon’s irresistible chemistry.
