Song Hye-kyo showed up on tvN’s entertainment program “You Quiz on the Block” broadcast on January 8th.
On the program, Song Hye-kyo said, “I received offers for many similar roles and projects with similar genres. Before ‘The Glory’, I started reflecting on my acting and I did think it felt boring. Even I think my acting was boring, it must be even more boring in the eyes of viewers. I felt depressed thinking I didn’t have any acting talents”.
She continued, “When I was younger, in my 20s, I looked at senior actors in their 30s and thought my acting would also be so good when I’m at their age. However, I guess acting is still difficult even in my 30s and 40s. In my late 30s, I monitored my acting and I realized that it was what I had always done. I felt embarrassed and I wondered if I should take a rest”.
Song Hye-kyo confessed, “Doing this work for a long time, I’ve faced lots of rumors as well. I received too much criticism that it doesn’t bother me anymore. Even malicious comments don’t make me feel sad anymore. However, when such comments targetted my family, it really breaks my heart”, adding “Someone once asked me about rumors surrounding me at a gathering, and I said, ‘I’ve just heard about that, so why don’t you go ask the person who spread the rumor’. I’ve been acting since I was young and dealt with big and small rumors. Normally, I would just let them go in one ear and out the other. But I did think the hate was too much sometimes”.
She shared, “I often contact director Noh Hee-kyung and he told me, ‘You need to know how to love yourself in order to be able to spread love to people around you’. I wondered how to love myself first. After that, I started to take up some morning and evening habits for the next five years. In the morning, I would write down my plans for the day, and before going to bed, I would list out 10 things I feel grateful for that day”, revealing changes in her life.
When asked about her goal, Song Hye-kyo said, “The present is what matters. Acting is still difficult, but as I get older, I think I will be taking more diverse roles. I’ve learned that I should and should not be greedy, so I believe that if I continue walking steadily, a good future will follow”.
