The SBS variety show “Running Man“, which aired on September 15th, featured a Chuseok special episode titled “The Unlucky Family Is Here,” with Geum Sae-rok and Hong Jin-ho as guests.
In this episode, the unlucky family battle was between “Ji-hyo’s family,” consisting of dad Yang Se-chan, twin brothers Yoo Jae-suk and Hong Jin-ho, and “Sae-rok’s family,” where Ji Seok-jin and Kim Jong-kook played filial sons while their unlucky father Haha lamented about his rebellious children.
“Ji-hyo’s family” included Song Ji-hyo, Yoo Jae-suk, Yang Se-chan, and Hong Jin-ho, who made their appearance. As soon as Hong Jin-ho sat down, he groaned, “Oh, I feel like I’m dying.“
Yoo Jae-suk responded with disbelief, “You just sat down lightly, why are you saying you’re dying?”, to which Hong Jin-ho joked, “I’ve gained weight recently, and it’s really hard on me.“
Hong Jin-ho, who got married in March this year, said, “Aren’t I still newlywed? And my wife is pregnant, so we’re mostly staying at home and eating a lot together. That’s why I’ve gained a lot of weight,” adding that they were expecting a “honeymoon baby.”
Back in February, during his previous appearance on “Running Man”, Hong Jin-ho handed out wedding invitations. Referring to the bank account number written on the invitation, he confidently said, “I knew you guys wouldn’t come to my wedding, so I just asked for congratulations instead.“
Yoo Jae-suk then asked Song Ji-hyo, “Why didn’t you go to Hong Jin-ho’s wedding?” to which she replied, “I sent wedding money, but he did not even know it was from me,” sparking curiosity.
Yoo Jae-suk laughed, adding, “He did not know because you sent it under ‘Cheon Soo-yeon’ (Song Ji-hyo’s real name).” Hong Jin-ho admitted, “I did not know that was her real name.“
Yoo Jae-suk continued to joke, “Song Ji-hyo has three names: Cheon Sung-im, Cheon Soo-yeon, and Song Ji-hyo. But now, even ‘Cheon Soo-yeon’ has become too well-known, so she’s thinking about changing it again,” drawing laughs.
Yoo Jae-suk then poked fun at Hong Jin-ho’s famously unclear pronunciation, saying, “If there’s ever a voice recognition door lock, he wouldn’t be able to get into his house because it wouldn’t recognize him.” Hong Jin-ho responded naturally, “My mouth is fine, but my pronunciation isn’t great,” embracing the joke and bringing more laughter.
