In Squid Game 2, Kim Si-eun portrays Player 95, Kim Young-mi, acting alongside Hyun-joo (played by Park Sung-hoon). Her character, Young-mi, is a timid individual who votes “X” to end the game quickly and ultimately meets her fate during the pairing game after being separated from her group amidst a crowd of men. Due to her resemblance to actress Ji Ye-eun, some viewers initially mistook Ji Ye-eun as part of the cast.
Born in 1999, Kim Si-eun gained early recognition when she reached the final four candidates for the female MC role on the show “Live Broadcast Talk! Talk! Boni Hani” following the departure of Lee Soo-min, the 11th Hani. Though she didn’t take the main role, she impressed audiences with her hosting skills and appeared as a supporting character on the show in late 2016 before stepping down in May 2017 to prepare for college entrance exams.
Kim Si-eun began capturing public attention with her role in the film “Next Sohee.” In the movie, she portrayed Kim So-hee, a trainee who faces exploitation and unfair treatment, leading to a tragic end. Her powerful performance showcased her refined acting skills.
For her role in “Next Sohee,” Kim Si-eun won the Best New Actress award at the 59th Baeksang Arts Awards and received a total of nine accolades, solidifying her status as a “rising star” in the industry.
Meanwhile, Ji Ye-eun has recently joined SBS’s variety show “Running Man” as a new permanent cast member.
