Netflix’s hit Squid Game 2 just dropped a new teaser on Nov. 1 but has immediately come under fire for quickly casting and featuring condemned sex offender Song Young Chang.

Other characters in the new season include a returner, Gi Hun (Lee Jung Jae), who tries to guide other players through life stackings.But Song’s history has made his presence controversial.
Song was ultimately convicted for sex with the 16-year-old girl in September 2000 and received a suspended prison sentence of 10 months and two years probation.
Apparently, he had paid about $150 for shown encounters. Move to Canada with family, claiming he was learning English after spending less than a month in jail.

Song was the first person in the Korean entertainment industry to be convicted of underage prostitution; as such, his past conviction followed him into work in Canada, where he relaunched his acting career before returning to South Korea.
Since then, he has made appearances in a handful of K-dramas and films — mostly as a supporting actor.
Fans and advocacy groups worry about his return, saying casting him flies in the face of bringing change to the entertainment industry when it comes to sexual misconduct.
His conviction had led a number of major broadcasting channels, including KBS, MBC, and EBS, to restrict him from appearing.
