On December 19, supervisor A, the head of the Mapo Resident Welfare Facility who oversees Winner’s Mino (Song Min-ho), had an interview with media outlet StarNews.
In the interview, A stated, “I saw Song Mino at least once a day, checked his attendance, and had him sign off. Of course, as I manage other tasks besides monitoring him, there may have been times when I couldn’t check his attendance in the morning. However, the MMA (Military Manpower Administration is verifying this through CCTV footage.”
A then further denied allegations of falsifying attendance records, adding, “We followed the formats prescribed by the MMA.”
A revealed that as early as March or April, Mino had already been categorized as unfit for alternative service. Having received a Grade 4 supplementary service classification due to conditions like panic disorder and bipolar disorder, the male idol has been undergoing treatment.
A explained, “After discussing with the MMA, we concluded that early discharge as unfit for service was appropriate and recommended this to him. The MMA also deemed the situation sufficient grounds for discharge. There have been similar cases where individuals were discharged after only two months. However, Mino refused, saying he needed to endure and complete the service period because of his career as a performer. He was very determined.”
According to A, after allegations of improper service arose, Mino took sick leave on December 18 and 19. A described Song’s current condition, saying, “It’s difficult for him to lead a normal life. He has cycles of ups and downs—he had a particularly rough time in February and April. He is psychologically unstable, and I heard through his manager that he is hospitalized.”
Meanwhile, Mino, who began his alternative service at the Mapo Facilities Management Corporation in March 2023, transferred to the Mapo Resident Welfare Facility this March. A clarified that the transfer was conducted without procedural issues or special treatment, stating, “Social service workers can change workplaces through counseling for grievances. Song requested the move due to difficulties adjusting to his new supervisor and his mental health condition.”
Mino is scheduled to complete his service and be discharged on December 23. However, the MMA is currently investigating his attendance records. If issues are identified, there is a possibility that his service period could be extended.
On the other hand, WINNER’s Mino was previously accused of neglecting duties during military service. Quickly afterwards, reports of him having dated actress Park Ju-hyun for 2 years also emerged, drawing attention.
