He teased his Player 230 role as Thanos, a veteran rapper whose life is turned upside down after being scammed by cryptocurrency during a recent interview.

Thanos is a nutjob, and he reacts to things unpredictably. Since T.O.P. has such an art background, this makes sense.

He added that his goal was to play his character realistically, trying to deliver lines that sounded natural but also unpredictable.

T.O.P told Netflix, “Since I’m a rapper myself, I tried to deliver the lines as natural as possible while not being too lighthearted or comical.”

“My personal goal was to show the viewers a character they hadn’t seen before — someone who is mysterious and unpredictable and with a couple of loose screws,” he added.

As creative director Hwang Dong Hyuk explains, T.O.P and the role he plays in the film are similar enough that it takes a lot of guts for him to have done it, especially considering T.O.P’s past.

He was convicted of drug use in 2017 and was given a 10-month jail sentence and a two-year military service suspension.

“I feel that it took him a lot of guts, in a way, to portray a character, especially someone who shares a lot of similarities that are quite negative to him as a person, too.

So I think it took him a lot of courage to take on that role,” Hwang said, as quoted by Koreaboo.

With the release of “Squid Game” Season 2, viewers are sharing their thoughts on how T.O.P handled his layered character, but hardly more so by the stamp he imprinted on the steely storyline.
